OVERVIEW:

Job Duties & Responsibilities

TREND: Be aware and identify retail fixture and design trends within the market. Collaborate with design leadership in application of finishes that supports brand standards.

DESIGN AND DEVELOP: Apply and adopt the skills to Design and Develop fixtures based on project briefs within a business objective. Focus on designing appropriately to the positioning of the brand, factors required for scale and value engineering of the design. Conduct research to understand prerequisite needs of implementation, generate concepts, validate designs/function, review usage, define fixture specifications, define applicable manufacturing process, provide material finishes, consider graphics application, and support the project strategy for both Merchandising and In-Store Environment. As needed perform R&D activities to create new fixtures based on “grounds up” design briefs and stretch innovation projects. During the above activities, collaborate with cross functional teams to review design concepts to ensure designs are appropriate, meet the expectations defined by the project brief, are manufacturable, and meet the needs of the business. Supports the Purchasing team in clarification of technical specs and updates from Fixture vendor(s) to ensure project scope is maintained. As needed they will manage the use of external resources (inclusive of Prototyping, Design, and Engineering ) to be able to accomplish higher level and more complex projects.

DRIVE ADOPTION: Create and deliver effective, cohesive environmental and fixture presentations to maximize efficiency. This includes the uses and understanding of various tools available. (i.e. athlete insights, productivity needs, trend analysis, environmental requirements and review of available metrics.)

FIXTURE PRODUCTION: Generate 3D renderings, engineering drawings, finish studies, and compile information required for prototype fabrication and full run of production. Update drawings based on prototype reviews. Upload all material and design information needed to Fixture vendor(s) . Post release, revisions will be updated and communicated to Fixture vendors. Review and approve samples based on standards. Assist in management and approval of all prototype needs . Track updates and manage expectations for all assigned projects. Report on progress and identify hurdles during development.

DRIVE INNOVOATION: Based on the direction of In-Store Design leadership learn how to push beyond the core fixture ask and introduce innovation within fixture design. Use available resources and tools to define fixture opportunities for prototype and scale production. Collaborate with Store Design management and cross-functional partners to drive efficiencies in product display and fabrication.

GROW AND LEARN: Learn to build core design skills and competencies. Create an IDP. Look for opportunities to grow as a designer and teammate within the walls of a retail culture. Opportunities should be structured with goals, IDP’s, and some self-directed opportunities identified with your manager.

Mentor: Assist Store Design leadership in mentoring and growing the broader design team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design

  • 5-7 years Design experience working for an OEM or Consultancy.

  • Software: Adobe Creative Suite, Solid Works, CAD, Key Shot, Cinema 4D, SketchUp

  • Understanding of prototyping methods and tools associated

  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing process application

  • Safety and compliance regulations associated to category

  • Cost Engineering

  • Knowledge of materials and process and the ability to seek needed knowledge as it is applied to the various fixtures that may be developed.

  • Ability to adapt to the changing demands of the role.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a team environment as defined by the timing and action calendar.

  • Ability to create retail design systems, fixture standards, and drive other engineering requirements such as electrical and data.

  • Solid Design process and methodology. Knowledge of tools to execute.

  • Experience managing internal and external product development resources to drive project execution.
